Can I pack a snowboard and a pair of ski's with boots in my bag and avoid the overcharge?
I have a snowboard bag that fits either 2 snowboards, 2 ski's or both in it. I am traveling with American Airlines and I have checked their policy about snowboards/skis and it pretty much say's I can check a snowboard bag or ski bag with 1 snowboard or 1 set of ski's and poles and I can also check a boot only bag and it would be considered 1 piece.
My question is this : What if I pack my snowboard and my ski's and boots in the bag and check in with it? Are they going to make me pay the extra $100 for being over the limit? (As far as the weight goes the bag will be just under the 50 lbs that they state is the limit).
Let me be clear. The bag is within the size and weight allowance for the bag. American Airlines does not charge extra for a snowboard or ski bag. I'm clearly asking if I am going to get charged extra because I am packing a snowboard and a pair of ski's in the bag.
We do not know.
Personally, I don't think they care that much about the contents, just the total weight of each bag and the number of bags.
But ..... I could very easily be wrong. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst - i.e. bring the cash or credit card in case you do have to pay the charge.
